“We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.” - John F. Kennedy
It seems that each and every day brings new challenges and opportunities my way with all of my jobs and investments. While I embrace everything that does come my way, I find more days than not I can get busy and distracted by everything around me. I can get so caught up in a new project or embedded in meetings that I sometimes forget to really take some quiet time for myself.
Now I’m not saying that is a bad thing, being busy has always been something I have loved to be. But taking quiet moments though out the hustle and bustle of your day and meditating on the good and positive things in your life will help you succeed in your business and personal life.
With Thanksgiving being next week, I have really started to sit with my thoughts and give thanks for many of the wonderful attributes in my life. This is a time of the year when many people take notice of what they are thankful for and I would say we should try to do this all year round. Studies have shown that giving gratitude will actually improve your health and well-being. Saying thank you to the people you encounter everyday but also acknowledging those in your life whom you truly are thankful for is important in your overall happiness. Calling up your mom on the phone once a week to say hi and you love her, leaving a card for your wife every now and then to tell her how much you appreciate her or even taking your kids on a weekly activity just you and them are great ways to let people know just how much they mean to you.
Today I challenge you to write down a list of people you are thankful for, and when you are done with that list, either call them up or go see them and tell them why you are thankful for them and what them being in your life means to you. If everyone did this for each person they adored in their life, just think how much happier people would be from the person giving gratitude to the person receiving gratitude? We could really make a positive impact on people’s lives.
Oh and by the way, I am thankful for each of you and want to say thanks for your continued business and support.
